November 2014: Katie Crosland-Harris!

Our November Bride of the Month is Katie Crosland-Harris. Katie is such a cute girl and was amazing to work with. Her bright rose letterpress invitation suite was elegant and really reflected her personality!

The Interview

Bekka: How did Talon propose?
Katie: Talon proposed to me by blindfolding me, driving me around the Holladay area, and taking me out snowshoeing in a blizzard...still blindfolded may I add. I remember how freezing it was when he had me get out of the car, while he put my snowshoe gear on for me.  It was quite the climb at first and then very steep.  After a couple of minutes he allowed the blindfold to come off.  After my eyes adjusted to the brightness of the sun off the snow, I recognized that we were at the Waterford school, where we first met. We hiked around the campus until he sat me down with view of the soccer field, where I played all of my high school games.  After overcoming his nerves, sharing a few reasons why he loves me, he got on one knee and asked me to marry him with ring in hand.  He tried to help me up, but that wasn’t so easy with snowshoes on. So we had a great laugh and enjoyed this special moment in our journey together.

Bekka: After the initial excitement where did you start when it came to planning your wedding?
Katie: My mom and I headed to Scenemakers to meet with our wedding coordinator Allie Kesler.  We made a few rough plans with her and I shared the vision I had for the big day!

Bekka: How did you decide on what your invitation would look like and what inspired it?
Katie: This decision was a difficult one. My inspirations were the time of year and the flowers that would me in my bouquet, and my favorite color. With the help of Ann Elizabeth, I was able to create the perfect invitation.

Bekka: Did you have a favorite part of your invitation and was there any feature of your invitation that people complimented you on most?
Katie: I love the design with the rose letterpress on multiple parts of the invitation.

Bekka: Do you feel that your invitation with vibrant rose letterpress set the tone for your event?
Katie: The invitation fit perfectly for the tone of my wedding.  It was bright, fun, and very classic.

Bekka:  From your experience do you have any advice for brides who are looking to gather inspiration for their wedding invitation and were there any lessons you learned through your creative process?
Katie: I would make a list of “must haves” before meeting with Ann Elizabeth.  This will help the narrowing process a lot! It is overwhelming to see all of the choices she has because she is so talented!

Bekka:  You were married and sealed in the historical Salt Lake City Temple with the reception held at the beautiful home of your parents. Tell us more about why you chose the locations and what they mean to you?
Katie: We chose to be married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple for many reasons. Both of our families live in Salt Lake, the grounds are beautiful, and I grew up going to this temple with the desire to one day be married there someday. We chose to have the reception in my parents backyard not only because it is breath-taking, but because we wanted the party to feel like home for everyone!

Bekka: No one can choose a favorite part of their wedding day so I wont make you, however was there anything that stood out more?
Katie: Standing on the Salt Lake temple steps with my closest friends and family, with my new husband by my side was a very special moment for me.  That was a rare occasion I’ll cherish forever!

Bekka: After all the hard work of planning your dream wedding did everything go off without a hitch or were there any hang-ups?
Katie: Everything, even the weather, was perfect on the day of our wedding!

Bekka: Katie again we are just thrilled to have you as our November bride and thank you for taking the time to share the details of your gorgeous wedding!

Congratulations Leigh Gutting-Lucas our October Bride of the Month!

October 2014: Leigh Gutting-Lucas!

We’re excited to have Leigh for our October Bride of the Month. Leigh is such a fun spirited gal and we loved working with her. Her unique invitation was one that we had never really done before. Being able to bring her ideas to life and see the final product of her invitations is always a thrill.

The Interview:

Bekka: Leigh I have to admit we love how your invitations turned out. I felt the invitation told a story of how your big day would play out. Tell me about the process you went through in dreaming up your invitation. Where did you get your inspiration from and how did you decide on what your invitations would look like?
Leigh: My friend Cami had suggested to make it a book. I love to read and felt it would be a great way of expressing who I am. Hamilton is my biggest supporter when it comes to books and reading, we have a bunch of books!

Bekka: What is your favorite part of your invitations?
Leigh: The tree was my favorite, how it branched out and wrapped around the entire invitation really tied it all together.

Bekka: Was there any feature of your invitations that people complimented you on most?
Leigh: The overall idea of it was appealing. I felt it really represented the both of us and how we’re kind of unusual. Guest also loved the map, because our venue was in such a remote place.

Bekka: Brides usually take the theme or a look from their invitation and incorporate it into the decor of the wedding venue. Did any part of your invitation help to create the look and feel at your venue?
Leigh: Having Michelle was so handy because that isn’t my strength and she was really able to pull all of it together. Our rings were custom made and I showed Michelle and she came up with the woodland theme, then built on that to the last detail.

Bekka: When setting the tone for your event do you feel your invitations achieve that?
Leigh: Absolutely, I had some family members think it was a western theme, and with my invitation I think it helped to represent the more enchanted fairytale. “Not disneyland princes or western rustic.”

Bekka: What advice would you give to brides who are looking to gather inspiration for their wedding invitations?
Leigh: Get out and look more. I wish I would have used the pinterest board that Ruth suggested, I think it would have saved me some time and revisions.

Bekka: You had Michelle Leo Events help you in all the event planning and design. It’s no secret that we absolutely love Michelle, so tell us about your experience working with such a talented Event Planner!
Leigh: It was fantastic I don’t know what I would have done without her. My sister got one when she was married out of state and it was so helpful. So for Michelle to come a long and encapsulate it and help me find great vendors was priceless. Especially Heather Nan, when she showed me her photography I was blown away and knew that is who I wanted to capture all my moments. I’ve had friends that I recommended getting a wedding planner because they are so worth it. They didn’t and when it came closer to their wedding day they were wishing they had someone to relieve some of the stress and worry.

Bekka: Looking back on your wedding day and all the beautiful memories that came from it, was there one moment that stood out more and if so what?
Leigh: The bad thing that happened, not too bad but, our wedding was at Red Cliffs Ranch so it is quite a drive. Hours before our wedding there was a semi truck on fire causing major delays for our guest to get to the wedding on time. We ended up starting our ceremony late because we were trying to wait on guests to arrive. Some of the guest didn’t even make it. You plan for back up plans like rain, wardrobe mishaps, or hair/makeup but not semi truck fires! So the funny thing that happened was one of the groomsmen got the music going to “Hava Nagila” and the next thing we knew everyone was lifting our chairs. We’re not really religious, but it was very spontaneous and fun!

Bekka: Leigh is was a pleasure working with you and I’d like to thank you for taking the time to talk with me and share the details of your wedding!

Congratulations Brittany Kahn-Shifrin our September Bride of the Month!

September 2014: Brittany Kahn-Shifrin!

Our September Bride of the Month is Brittany Kahn-Shifrin. We’re so excited to share her elegant destination wedding at the beautiful St. Regis Deer Valley. This month is extra special because Brittany and Adam are celebrating their one-year anniversary! We are so honored to feature them and all the talented vendors like Meredith Parsons and Pepper Nix that played such a big part in creating their perfect wedding.

The Interview

Bekka: Brittany, you're getting ready to celebrate your one-year anniversary. What has your first year of marriage been like?
Brittany:  It’s been great!!  Adam and I dated for almost 7 years before getting married and we already lived together, so it didn’t feel like too much changed after we got married.

Bekka: You were married at The St. Regis Deer Valley. Does this place have a special meaning to you or did you just love how gorgeous it is?
Brittany: Park City in general is a special place to me.  My family has been coming to Park City since I was little, and I have so many amazing memories there!  Adam and I loved being able to share this place with all of our wedding guests especially since most had never been to Utah before.  The St. Regis Deer Valley is so beautiful and has amazing views that I knew would be wonderful for all of our wedding photos!

Bekka: Where did you get your inspiration from and how did you decide on what your invitations would look like?
Brittany: I knew I wanted something a little more fun for our save the date.  Adam actually found something online and we shared it with Ann Elizabeth and Ruth as our inspiration, and they took it from there.
For our formal invitations I wanted something classic and simple, but I wasn’t exactly sure what that would be.  After meeting and talking with Ruth several times, she helped me come up with some amazing ideas for our invitations. We ended up going with a grey thermography print on a white and grey duplex invitation.  Ann Elizabeth and Ruth suggested adding the grey duplex backer to our invitation, which I loved!!  It added a nice touch while giving the invitations a sturdier feel.  The additional pieces all worked together so nicely, and I was so happy how they turned out. Ann Elizabeth and Ruth were great to work with!  They were so patient and provided so many great ideas to choose from.

Bekka: After your invitations were designed and mailed out did you feel they expressed to your guests the tone for your big day!
Brittany: Yes, I did.  They were simple, classic, and elegant.

Bekka:  From your experience do you have any advice for brides who are looking to gather inspiration for their wedding invitations and were there any lesson you learned through your creative process?
Brittany: It really helps to look at sample invitations online and in the studio.  I didn’t know specifically what I wanted at first and going on Pinterest for inspiration was very helpful in communicating what I liked with Ann Elizabeth & Ruth.

Bekka: You hired the fabulous Meredith Parsons as your wedding planner, which we feel if you have the budget for… do it! How was your experience having someone to take care of all the details!
Brittany: It was great!! Having someone help out with all the small details, recommend vendors and help your vision come to life is amazing!!  She had me create a Pinterest board to pin things I liked and she added to it as well.  It resulted in more than we could have asked for!!

Bekka: Your photography really tells a story and beautifully captures every precious moment. Tell us about your amazing photographer Pepper Nix and why you chose her.
Brittany: I came across Pepper’s photos when I was first at the St. Regis touring the venue.  I immediately fell in love with her sunset photos and couldn’t wait to work with her. She has such a fun and laid-back attitude and working with her on our wedding day was amazing! She kept Adam and I relaxed and made the whole process so easy.

Bekka: How would you describe your wedding day from start to finish?
Brittany: Perfection!!  It was a wonderful day and a day that we will never forget!!  It snowed the day before our wedding, which was nerve racking since our ceremony was supposed to be outside. Luckily the day of our wedding, it warmed up and it was a beautiful bluebird day so we kept the ceremony outside!!

Bekka: Looking back was there anything you would have changed?
Brittany: I think there are small things that I would consider changing, because I am a perfectionist. However, those are things that I don’t think anyone else would have noticed.  So the best advice I could give someone else is to not sweat the small stuff, because you are probably the only one who even realized it.

Bekka: Brittany, we are just thrilled to have you as our September bride and thank you for share the details of your wedding. Congratulations on celebrating your one-year anniversary!

Congratulations Nicole Abate-Kenyon our August Bride of the Month!

August 2014: Nicole Abate-Kenyon!

I’m excited to introduce our August Bride of the Month Nicole Abate-Kenyon. We loved her save the date that gave her guest the reminder of what to look forward to and how her “modern chevron” invitation really set the tone for the type of wedding she would be having. Nicole’s amazing photographer OpieFoto captured her beautiful wedding held at the prestige Stein Eriksen Lodge at Deer Valley. It just shows having talented vendors really does make all the difference for an occasion such as Nicole’s!

The Interview

Bekka: How is married life and do you feel any different?
Nicole: Married life is GREAT! Alex and I have been together for a while now, so not much changed after the nuptials. Getting to call him my husband is one of the best feelings in the world.

Bekka: Where did you get your inspiration from in designing your invitations and did you know exactly what you wanted or did you have a bunch of ideas.
Nicole: My inspiration came from an ad I saw in Utah Bride Magazine. It was a picture of a wedding party dressed in preppy navy blue and Kelly green. I knew right then that those were my wedding colors. Alex and I originally come from Connecticut, and now currently live in Denver, so we wanted to incorporate some east coast prep into our invitations for our mountain wedding.

Bekka: What is your favorite part of your invitations?
Nicole: Our Save the Dates were so fun to design. I loved that we were able to incorporate places from our past, present and future, as well as show the guests where they will be joining us for our special day. Ann Elizabeth was able to incorporate a modern chevron into a simple and elegant design for our invitations, which made them really unique and special. The blue and green stripes and chevron have to be my favorite! I also love the font I chose, because I feel it set a casual tone for the wedding.

Bekka: Was there any feature of your invitations that people complimented you on most?
Nicole: I got so many compliments on the originality of the invitations. From the map on the Save the Date, to the simplistic, yet modern design on the invitation, people really got a sense of what the wedding atmosphere was going to be like.

Bekka: Some brides take the theme of their invitation and tie it into their wedding decor did you use anything from your invitation?
Nicole: Yes! Our wedding colors were Navy Blue, Kelly Green and Grey so all of the décor was in line with this color scheme. The bridesmaids wore neutral grey dresses which allowed the mountains to really shine, and not be overpowered. The Groom and Groomsmen wore navy blue Vans and green striped socks to dress down their suits. We also had some chevron mixed in with paper straws and place cards. One thing I have always been picky about is matching the Save the Date to the Invitation, and then trying to incorporate that into the design of the wedding. I think it all went together very well!

Bekka: Do you feel that your invitations set the tone for your wedding?
Nicole: Absolutely. We wanted a casual mountain feel in an elegant setting. I feel that the invitations set the casual tone for the wedding, for sure. I definitely was looking for an invitation that was not too fancy, but pretty, fun and reflected us as a couple.

Bekka: What advice would you give to brides who are looking to gather inspiration for their wedding invitations?
Nicole: Look at lots of magazines, check out the Ann Elizabeth website, and of course…Pinterest! There are so many great ideas online. You just have to figure out what message you want to send to guests, and as long as you can communicate that to Ann Elizabeth, you are no doubt going to get exactly what you are envisioning.

Bekka: How would you describe your wedding day and was there anything that happened that you didn’t expect good or bad?
Nicole: Our wedding day was definitely the best day of my life. It was relaxed, fun and full of love! I started off the day with yoga on the deck with my bridesmaids at Stein Eriksen lodge and the Boys hiked Deer Valley. This set the tone for the day. After that came the routine “getting ready” and pictures before the ceremony. The ceremony was short, sweet and beautiful and the reception was a blast. We wanted all of our guests to have a great time and I really feel that they did! I would say the one thing I didn’t expect, was that I was so calm. I expected to be anxious and crying at every little thing, but it was actually one of the most serene and memorable days of my life!

Bekka: Tell us a little more about the vendors you chose and how it made your day that more special!
Nicole: Well first off, I have to give a shout out to our photographer, OpieFoto. Opie was a pleasure to work with. She takes amazing photos and is such a creative artist. I can’t stop looking at my wedding photos or my album! As for the venue, Stein Eriksen Lodge holds a special place in my heart, because we have spent a lot of time there during the winter ski season. This just felt like the perfect location for us to tie the knot. The other vendor that really made our wedding special was Couth Booth. They provided our photo booth and we have so many awesome, hilarious pictures from them!

Bekka: Nicole you were so great to work with, thank you for sharing your beautiful wedding with us!

Ann Elizabeth Ladies!

Meet the ladies of the studio Ann, Ruth, Bekka and Carolyn.

Our whole staff have been working long hours to keep up with all our fabulous brides needs. Some days we look at the clock and wonder where the day even went. Luckily as we were entering the busy season Carolyn our newest member to the team couldn’t have worked out better. She is amazing and has mad organization skills, so what I’m saying is WE LOVE HER!

With printers running non stop, paper stacked to the ceilings, and the smell of ink in the air you could say we’re running at full speed here at the studio. If you're in the wedding industry you know just how crazy things can get, but there’s never a dull moment around here either, because like the saying goes “When it rains, it pours... but soon, the sun shines again”. So what I’m saying is when the sun is shining we like to have fun! So cheers to the Ann Elizabeth ladies, and enjoy the group of photos I found from a shoot a while back.

Congratulations Tara Delatorre our June Bride of the Month!

header1

June 2014: Tara Delatorre!

Summer is here and we are loving destination weddings especially when it’s on the beautiful island of Hawaii. We loved all the photos from the talented Clane Gessel that showcased this fabulous destination wedding. Tara’s wedding was held at the St. Regis Princeville in Kauai with the help of her wedding coordinator Ashlee Libbrect. With a tropical paradise and the right vendors you too could have a dream wedding like Tara!

The Interview

Bekka:  Tara now that your big day is all through, have you and your hubby recuperated?
Tara: I think we are still in a wedding and honeymoon high.  It was all so beautiful and lovely, and there was nothing we would change. From the wedding in Kauai to the honeymoon the Bora Bora, it was all perfection.

Bekka: Tell me about the process you went through in dreaming up your invitations. Where did you get your inspiration from, how did you decided what your invitations would look like?
Tara: Since we were having a destination wedding in Kauai, we wanted to make sure that the invitations set the stage for the event.  It had to have a tropical, yet casual fun feeling.

Bekka: Did you have a favorite part of your invitation?
Tara: I loved the Hawaiian flower and simplicity of the invitations.  There was just enough information, without being too frilly, which represents us as a couple.

Bekka: Did you incorporate any of the design from your invitations into your wedding decor or was it vice versa in your case because of the wedding location?
Tara: The invitations were coral in color, which was incorporated into some of the dresses and design. A long with some beautiful hibiscus flowers in the bouquets.

Bekka: Do you feel that your invitations set the tone for your event?
Tara: Yes absolutely, they set the mood for the type of wedding we wanted to have. Which lead to an excitement in our guest for the upcoming wedding.

Bekka: From your experience do you have any advice for brides who are looking to gather inspiration for their wedding invitations and were there any lesson you learned through your creative process?
Tara: I think the first thing would be to decide on the look and feel you want to create.  Be it for formal or causal, simple or elaborate.  We went in with some basic ideas and Ruth really helped us narrow down the look and feel we wanted to create.  She had really great advice and good suggestions, and we couldn’t have done it without her.

Bekka: We love the idea of a destination wedding! What made you both decide on this and did the location have significance to either one of you?
Tara: We knew we wanted to have a wedding somewhere on an island next to the ocean.  We visited Kauai and after seeing its beautiful landscape, we knew that was the place.

Bekka: How would you describe your experiences with all the planning and details that go into this type of wedding?
Tara: We did a lot of research on the local vendors in Kauai.  We saw the work that they did and knew we would be in good hands.  We gave them some basic ideas and then let them have the control, which turned out to be right decision.  They all did an exceptional job.

Bekka: What was your favorite part of having a destination wedding and would you recommend it to other brides?
Tara: My favorite part was the destination itself.  Nothing can compare to the nature beauty of Kauai.  I would absolutely recommend to anyone that has the opportunity to have a destination wedding to do it.

Bekka: I have to say I loved that your photographer Clane Gessel sent your pictures over to us at Ann Elizabeth. I had so much fun looking through all the gorgeous photos. Tara, you were right it was so hard to pick the final ones for bride of the month because there were so many amazing shots to choose from. Tell us more about your fabulous vendors like Clane Gessel your photographer and how it made your wedding day just that more special!
Tara: I saw Clanes work online and knew he had to do my wedding.  He had such an amazing creative eye.  In fact, all my vendors from the hotel coordinator, to the flower and décor people were fantastic.  There was nothing I would change, and would recommend all of the people that we worked with.

Bekka: Tara again we are just thrilled to have you as our June bride and thank you for taking the time to talk with us and share the details of your gorgeous destination wedding!

Congratulations Charlotte Haws-Frey our April Bride of the Month!

header

April 2014: Charlotte Haws-Frey!

This month we wanted to take a look back at one of our winter brides so cozy up for this Rustic Winter wedding. Charlotte is such sweet gal and full of charisma so naturally she was the perfect pick. Her personality shines through during our interview while her pictures capture who Charlotte truly is!

The Interview:

Bekka: Charlotte, what was the inspiration for the design of your invitation and was there one thing you had to have to make it all come to life?
Charlotte: We were married at Log Haven Restaurant on December thirtieth, and I wanted our invitations to reflect both the rustic locale as well as the winter season. The natural colors with the bright red ink and backer, as well as the pinecone details on the invitations and envelope liners, really helped me accomplish that goal. I love those little pinecones. They were my favorite part of the invitations.

Bekka: Do you feel your invitation set the tone for your wedding and how?
Charlotte: Absolutely. We wanted to throw a great party for our friends and family, and I think the scripts on the invitations are fun and inviting. We also incorporated the simple, rustic theme of our invitations into our decorations. We used pine boughs, ivory candles, and red ribbons for the table and aisle decorations, as well as pinecones, of course.

Bekka:  What advice would you give to brides who are looking to gather inspiration for their wedding invitations?
Charlotte: Don’t be afraid to edit. There are a million ways to make great invitations. You can’t pick them all. Less is more.

Bekka: Your venue was Log Haven, what made you choose that location?
Charlotte: For a rustic winter wedding, I can’t imagine a better location! It was cold and snowy outside in the woods, but we were tucked in our cozy little cabin with our favorite people. It was incredibly warm and intimate. The candles, twinkle lights, and big central fireplace lit up the all the beautiful, natural wood in the restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing, of course, and I can’t imagine a more helpful staff. My husband and I live in Portland, Oregon and the wedding planner on-site, Faith Sweeten, was a lifesaver. She kept us organized and ensured that everything went smoothly. She thought of important things that never would have crossed my mind.

Bekka: When it comes to planning a wedding it takes so many great vendors. Tell us a bit about some of the vendors you used in creating your rustic chic wedding?
Charlotte: I feel really lucky to have picked the right people! Kelly Sansom, at Gallery Photography, was our photographer. He came very highly recommended and still exceeding our expectations. The pictures speak for themselves. Debbie Achter, at Abandoned Fields, is a long-time family friend and did our flowers and decorations. She has an amazing eye for color and aesthetics. The flower girls’ crowns and the berry boutonnières were my favorite details. Valerie Muhlstein and Nichole Forsey did hair and make-up for me and my bridesmaids. They made everyone look unbelievably beautiful and added tremendously to the fun of the day. Spending the morning with my favorite people AND these talented ladies was one of the highlights of the wedding. Michael Lucarelli played the classical guitar for our processional and recessional and made time prior to the wedding to learn the accompaniment and to rehearse the song that was sung during the wedding. He is so talented. Many of our guests commented on how impressed they were by the music. Mario Bush was our DJ. That man knows how to keep a party going.  I was planning on throwing my bouquet and having a big, dramatic exit, but Joe and I could not stop dancing. We had to stay to the end of the night. We were just having too much fun to leave.

Bekka: Looking back was there anything you wished you’d done different?
Charlotte: I wish I had trusted my instincts more and worried less about what people would think about my style choices. I was frequently overwhelmed by the number of choices I had to make, but it is only for one day. It’s important to remember that and have fun.

Bekka: How would you sum up your overall experience your wedding had for you and your new hubby?
Charlotte: It was a wonderful way to start our lives together! We were both so grateful for all of the kindness and love directed our way and all the effort that was made on our behalf.  So many people contributed time, money, and talent to celebrate our union. So many people traveled from across the country to be there. At the end of the day, I really was overwhelmed with gratitude for, not only my handsome new husband, but also for all the amazing people in my life.

Bekka: Charlotte thanks for taking the time to talk with me and share all the fun details of your wedding!

Congratulations Lianne Albert-Seumanu our February Bride of the Month!

header

February 2014: Lianne Albert-Seumanu!

With the ground hog seeing his shadow they’re saying six more weeks of winter. So I decided we need a bride who’s wedding takes us to warmer days; Lianne’s wedding was just that! Surrounded by family and friends this Polynesian themed wedding had everything, from groomsmen wearing traditional ie faitaga and a wide variety of food including the best-shaved ice you can get in Utah.

Interview:

Bekka: Lianne did you know what style of invitation you wanted and how did it all come about?
Lianne: I had a really good idea of the style of invitation I wanted before I went in. I knew I wanted something classic and more traditional. I knew exactly what I wanted my fonts to be, and colors. I just didn't know what I wanted the rest to be like. Ruth was great though in helping me and really listening to the overall feel that I wanted. My invitations turned out perfectly.

Bekka: What is your favorite part of your invitation and was there any feature of your invitations that people complimented you on most?
Lianne: My favorite part of the invitation was the quality and how clean and classic it looked. I loved the magnolia flowers that were carried throughout the set on the invitation and the envelope. I really feel like the high quality of the paper and the letterpress made it perfect though. When people opened their invitation, I know they were saying "Wow! That's really nice!" And that set the tone for the rest of the wedding festivities.

Bekka: Do you feel that your invitations set the tone for your event?
Lianne: Yes, they set the tone for the entire event! I am a firm believer that the invitations should do just that!

Bekka: Tell us about the vendors you chose to help create your amazing wedding!
Lianne: My gown is a custom Anne Barge purchased from Alta Moda Bridal.  The staff at Alta Moda especially Rachel was incredible! My dress was perfect! My bridesmaids wore navy blue dresses from eshakti.com (custom). I had such a wide-range of girls in my line I wanted them to be comfortable. I found this awesome website that made dresses based on measurements (regular and plus sizes) even added sleeves and length. It was PERFECT.

My photographer Amee Sorensen Photography is originally from New Orleans and works in Utah and Louisiana. To say we had an instantaneous connection would be the understatement of the year. She completely understood the "Louisiana" influence on the wedding.

My florist was Every Blooming Thing. They really brought all the details they created together for the big day especially the centerpieces for the reception. They executed my vision perfectly. It wouldn't have been as beautiful if it weren’t for them.

I used One Sweet Slice to make a 9-tiers...all cake. Simple and elegant and could not be happier with the outcome! They incorporated a southern charm pull for my bridesmaids too!

The food was Catering by Bryce. He did the majority of the food and was so easy to work with. We ended up adding 150 servings of food with him the week of the wedding because we realized we were expecting more people than originally anticipated. The food tasted AMAZING!!! I never really wanted a buffet-style reception eating, but cost wise it was the only way to go. Every Blooming Thing did great big centerpieces for the buffet tables. It was as nice as it could be, and we fed 800 plus people. FAST!
To add as a supplement to the shrimp scampi and grilled chicken Bryce did, my husband's family did three traditional Samoan dishes for the wedding; taro, palusami, and povi masima. Taro is a starchy root sort of like potatoes. Palusami is coconut milk wrapped in banana or taro leaves and usually steamed. Povi Masima is a salted beef brisket. Some friends of our family did a kids table for us to feed the younger ones. They did fresh chopped fruit with li hing mui powder (red sweet, sour, salty tasting powder), BBQ Teriyaki Chicken, and steamed rice. My uncle brought in fresh ahi tuna from Hawaii and we had an authentic Hawaiian ahi tuna pok?. It's kind of like sashimi. We served those in small cups for everyone. WHAT'S A POLYNESIAN WEDDING WITHOUT FOOD…FOOD...and MORE FOOD! Funny thing is, that's how they do it in Louisiana too.

Hokulia Shave Ice is the best authentic shave ice you can get outside of Hawaii. THE BEST!

I came across Chrisstine's Linens and Things on the Internet and rented the majority of my linens from them. They were super inexpensive and VERY accommodating! I would recommend them to anyone and everyone! They are a small company run out of their home (mother and daughter), but they ordered in the material and sewed my linens in time for the big day. It was perfect!!!

Amy at Diamond Rentals SLC location was the best! She had a solution for every "problem" that came up. The day of it started to rain and because using the outside of the venue was a must because of how many people would be there, we HAD to rent a tent. I was not a fan, but my brother and uncle went and met with Amy. Rented a tent and a chandelier for the tent. It was as perfect as it could have been.

All Star Party Rentals were the only ones with the patio umbrellas that I wanted available. “Wooden poles, tan canvas umbrella 9 ft.”

Bekka: I heard there were some problems with the men’s attire; tell me a little bit more about what happened.
Lianne: They wore grey traditional ie faitaga. We originally ordered it from Samoa, and the color was all wrong. Luckily, I knew someone that knew someone that was coming from Samoa to Utah and would make 'light grey' ones for us. What are the chances? They wore it with white on white Polynesian print shirts and sandals.

Bekka: Lianne we loved having you as our client and thank you for taking the time to talk with me and share all the fun details of your wedding!

Valentines favor boxes!

How fab are these custom Valentines boxes! We had so much fun helping our client and her daughter create her own custom Valentines for school. We chose favor boxes because they are great for any occasion. So, with a blank canvas to start from we were able to apply favorite colors and patterns to create the perfect Valentine. She wanted the wrap to have two prints: hearts for the girls and stripes for the boys. Then adding a ribbon and layered heart tag gave this Valentine its’ wow factor!

I love how adorable the Valentines turned out and how excited this little girl is to share them with her classmates. This is one of those projects that make our job here at Ann Elizabeth so rewarding!
